Vishay – Rutronik includes two new Infrared Receivers in its Program
Specified for operation from 2.5V to 5.5V, with a low 0.35mA supply current at 3.3V, the new receivers each consist of a photodiode and preamplifier assembled on a lead frame. They provide low-speed data transmission up to 7.8kbps over a range of up to 35 meters with an emitter strength of 150mW/sr. Offered in a compact 6.0 x 6.9 x 5.6mm epoxy package, that acts as IR band pass filter, the infrared receivers are optimized for use with inexpensive 940nm IR LEDs. They provide shielding against EMI and immunity against ambient light, and they are insensitive to supply voltage ripple and noise from CFL lamps. They meet the Vishay Green Standards and are RoHS-compliant as well as halogen-free.
Data transmission is a central element in a wide range of electronics. As an alternative to radio frequency (RF) transmission, the use of the IR components TSDP34138/56 and TSDP34338/56 simplifies designs, lowers costs, and eliminates the need to obtain regulatory approvals. In addition, by requiring line-of-sight, IR enhances privacy and minimizes interference with adjacent systems.
