ROHM – The World’s First Qi-Certified Medium Power Transmitter Reference Design
Cutting-edge reference design will allow ROHM to expand into the wireless charging Segment
ROHM has received certification from WPC (Wireless Power Consortium) for its reference design using the BD57020MWV wireless power transmitter IC for medium power application up to 15W. This is the first device in the world certified to be compliant with the new Qi medium power specification.
BD57020MWV is an integrated IC for the wireless power transmitter. This device is composed of inverters for the coil drive, controller for the communication of the Qi compliant and demodulating circuit, GPIO, TCXO buffer, and I2C interface. BD57020MWV works as a controller in the wireless power transmitter based on the Qi compliant by using it with a general-purpose microcomputer. BD57020MWV is applied to Qi ver.1.2 (Low Power and Medium Power).
To facilitate the introduction of wireless charging in new applications requiring higher power and to accelerate adoption in applications that can benefit from wireless charging, a complete reference design for Qi Medium Power transmission is available on request.
