New VO2223B Phototriac With 600 V/μs dv/dt Reduces Design Costs and Saves Board Space

Eliminating Need for External TRIACs and Snubber Networks, Device Directly Drives Medium AC Loads

Product Benefits:

• Directly drives mediu AC loads

• High dv/dt of 600 V/μs (typ.)

• Consists of an optically coupled phototriac driving an integrated power TRIAC in a compact DIP package

• High blocking voltage of 600 V

• Input-to-output isolation voltage of 5300 V

• Low 10 mA maximum input trigger current

• RoHS-compliant

Market Applications:

• Fan motor, valve, and pump control in air conditioners, refrigerators, water heaters, washing machines, and inductive oven ranges, as well as smart home thermostats, intelligent light controllers, floor heating systems, and magnetic door controls

The News:

Vishay Intertechnology introduces a new 1 A integrated power phototriac designed to directly drive medium AC loads. Featuring high dv/dt of 600 V/μs (typ.), the Vishay Semiconductors VO2223B delivers high robustness and noise isolation for home appliances and industrial equipment.

• Optimized for noisy environments

• Without the need for an external power TRIAC, the device reduces design costs and saves board space

• For further space savings, high dv/dt enhances safety margins to eliminate requirements for expensive snubber networks

• High blocking voltage permits control of off-line voltages up to 240 VAC, and is sufficient for as much as 380 VAC

• Low 10 mA maximum input trigger current facilitates an easy interface with digital logic

The Key Specifications:

• Load current: 1 A

• dv/dt: 600 V/μs (typ.)

• Blocking voltage: 600 V

• Input-to-output isolation voltage: 5300 V

• Maximum input trigger: 10 mA

Availability:

Samples and production quantities of the new VO2223B power phototriac are available now, with lead times of six weeks.
