DDR5 memory modules – Upgrade your memory technology
DDR5 – the next generation of DRAM modules
DDR5 is the next-generation random-access memory (RAM) specification. It is expected that DDR5 becomes the dominant memory standard in the coming years as the demand for DDR5 memory is expanding and will not slow down anytime soon. DDR5 delivers higher data transfer rates, higher capacity, and greater power efficiency compared with DDR4. Due to the higher bandwidth of DDR5 data can be transmitted faster. DDR5 memory modules promise a blazing-fast performance of up to 6400 MT/s and additional key features like increased storage efficiency, enhanced system stability, and low power consumption. Just like DDR4, DDR5 dual-inline memory modules (DIMMs) have 288 pins. Even though the pin count is the same as in the previous memory generation, DDR5 DIMMs will not fit in DDR4 sockets as the alignment key is located differently and the pinouts have been changed to accommodate the new features.

Growing demand for DDR5 in industrial markets
All of these advantages, and more, are expected to meet the ever-growing memory needs of present and future applications. The demand for high-performance computing and massive data processing is rapidly growing in the industrial market. With the releases of next-generation processor platforms the memory technology upgrade towards DDR5 becomes inevitable. In 2022 industrial applications for DDR5 memory modules are starting to emerge based on intel’s 12th-Generation Core processor family Alder Lake and server platform Eagle Stream, as well as AMD’s Zen4 Genoa. This is a critical moment for introducing DDR5 DRAM and developing related system platforms. Especially for applications in enterprise and data center servers, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and high-speed computing DDR5 DRAM modules should be considered for all new designs.
For critical tasks like increasing speed of massive data transfers and server operations at optimal workloads, DDR5 RDIMM industrial server memory delivers excellent performance and reliability.
Target applications:
