AVX 9296 Series Wire-to-Board Contacts Honored with an Electronic Products Product of the Year Award
Honoring the most outstanding products introduced to the market in 2013, the Product of the Year Awards are presented in recognition of significant advances in a technology or its application, design innovation, or improvement with regard to price and/or performance. Of the thousands of product submissions that were evaluated by the editors at Electronic Products, only 15 were selected to receive a 2013 Product of the Year Award.
“AVX is committed to achieving complete customer satisfaction through continuous improvement and new product development, so we are extremely pleased to have been recognized for the innovative design of our 9296 Series contacts by the editors at Electronic Products, who are widely respected throughout the electronic components industry for having their finger on the pulse of cutting-edge technological developments,” said AVX Vice President of Sales Pete Venuto.
AVX’s 9296 Series surface-mount, single-poke, dual-beam boxed contact system is designed to enable simple, reliable, and solderless wire termination in a broad range of industrial applications without the added expense of an insulator and its associated assembly costs. The novel, single-position contacts integrate several key features within the stamping to facilitate SMT pickup, wire guidance, high force retention, and easy wire removal, effectively providing all of the benefits of a full-function connector while contributing to smaller and more cost-effective end-designs.
Individually placed, 9296 Series contacts also enhance design flexibility by significantly expanding the range of options for bringing discrete power, signal, or ground lines onto a PCB in a broad range of applications, including: smart grid meters, breakers, and panels; solid-state lighting (SSL)/LED bulbs, fixtures, signage, and streetlights; machine controls, including motors, drives, solenoids, sensors, fans, and pumps; and commercial building controls, such as security and fire sensors.
