Available CORS networks in Europe to cooperate with Unicore GNSS modules
The Cors networks are a vital partner for the Unicore Modules. The precision and accuracy Unicore manages to achieve, can only work through an RTK-System.
What is RTK?
Real-Time-Kinematic is a technique gaining on importance every day, as for example automation and robotics development soar exponentially. In the pursuit of perfection, RTK is a vital milestone, as it allows centimeter accuracy.
The positioning system contains of a combination of GNSS measurement technology and data transmission technology. The rover, so the item to be positioned gets the ephemeris and almanac data information through GNSS systems. In addition to that, an RTK-Station, which has a know location, receives the PMT (Positioning, Movement, Timing) information and can compare it to measure the ionosphere, troposphere, satellite orbit and satellite clock errors and send the correction data to the rover, managing to get an accuracy of 1 cm.
RTK – Advantages
- RTK operating ensures 50 HZ RTK processing, less than 10 ms output latency, up to 200Hz navigation attitude and position accuracy
- RTK is not affected by weather conditions
- No other software needed for real time operations
- Very short initialization time
- The centimeter-level accuracy is maintained for up to ten 10 minutes
For a Rover to use RTK, it needs to either have a personally acquired base station, which can get really expensive, or to get the rights to use the network of Continuously Operating Reference Stations. In Europe, most of the countries have a national Cors Network, and adding to that there are several private companies providing.
There are several private companies within the countries, although three big ones seem to dominate the private market. The first one, Trimble, is Silicon Valey company, with the most stations in the US and in Europe, still manages to provide almost every country.
In addition to that, Hexagon is also a very reliable partner for Cors networks. The focus lays on Europe and in the US, with Stations covering parts of Europe, America, Asia.
The third of the Big 3 is Topnet, with Stations hiden around the world, concentrating on the western parts of the US, all of Europe and parts of Asia. The industry targeted is the one Unicore customers are working in.
Unicore is compatible with almost all networks, working on connecting with all of them and is functioning in the most parts of the world. If a customer is unsure, whether they get connection at their location or what company to connect with, we are happy to answer
