Kontron’s new mITX motherboard K-3931-N delivers high performance for compute and graphics-intensive applications
At the embedded world 2023 Kontron presented the new K3931-N mITX motherboard. It is based on the Intel® Core™ i3 and Intel® N-series processors (Alder Lake N) with latest UHD Gen12 graphics. With the new K3931-N mITX Kontron further expands to its product portfolio of compact, power-saving motherboards “designed and made in Germany”. Available in four variants with different CPUs the Kontron K3931-N series provides scalability with regard to performance, power consumption and costs within a single product design. The motherboard is designed for an extended temperature range of up to 60 °C and capable of 24/7 continuous operation.
In the power range from 6W to 15W the Intel® Core™ i3 and Intel® N series processors set new benchmarks for x86 processors. Like 12th Gen Intel® Core™ processors, they use the same efficient-cores and Intel® UHD graphics based on the Xe architecture. This facilitates the porting of applications and solutions across Intel® CPU performance and ranges of power. Accelerated deep learning inference and media processing for diverse edge applications are supported by Intel® AVX2 and Intel® Deep Learning Boost – in combination with up to 32 execution units.
The industrial motherboard K3931-N mITX is equipped with up to three DisplayPorts V1.4a, one Embedded DisplayPort V1.4b (4K) and one Dual-Channel LVDS (24bit) and supports up to three independent displays with 4K resolution (2x 4K + 1x FHD). Along with expansion slots for PCIe and two M.2 ports, the motherboard features numerous other interfaces, including GPIO, four COM ports and four USB 3.2 Gen2. In addition, the K3931-N mITX supports ccTalk and uses a SODIMM socket for high-performance DDR5 memory with up to 32GB.
