Vishay Power Resistors Cooled by Auxiliary Heatsink RCMW 650
WHAT IT IS & WHAT IT DOES:
High Power Thick film Power resistors are passive devices designed to be heatsink mounted. They are non-inductive, low profile & totally insulated. Their global performances, a lot higher than traditional Power resistors allow to save space in equipment due to their high power/volume ratio. Depending on derating rules and on cooling system (Metal plate or heatsink) these resistors will dissipate up to 650W @85°C bottom case in a super low-profile package 13mm thick.
KEY PARAMETERS:
High Power Resistor up to 650 Watt at 85°C Bottom case temperature.
Cable easy assembly
Low profile 13.4mm height
Resistance Range: 0.47R to 1MR
Tolerance: ± 5% or ± 10% (2% or 1% on special request)
Maximum operating voltage: 6000V DC
Dielectric Strength: 7 kVrms / 50 Hz 1 min.
Partial Discharge: ≤ 10 Pc at 4 kVrms
Non-inductive design 40nH typical
OTHER IMPORTANT FEATURES:
2 resistors configuration available
No concerns on Creeping and Clearance distances because of cables assembly

TARGET MARKETS:
– HVDC, VSC, SVC, large Drives, UPS
– Railway, Marine, Wind Turbines Converters / Inverters
APPLICATIONS/MARKET SEGMENTS (EXAMPLES):
– Discharge for Inverter & Converter
o The resistor is connected permanently to discharge capacitors. The main requirements are high power and high voltage capability. Reliability is mandatory as it is a safety function.
– Balancing for Inverter
o Balancing resistor is used when capacitors are in series to limit the maximum voltage on capacitors and protect them by don’t exceeding their voltage ratings.
– Precharge for Converter
o The resistor is used to limit the inrush current when voltage is applied to capacitors. The main requirements are high energy and high voltage capability.
– Snubber for Inverter
o Snubber resistor is used to discharge the capacitor and avoid a sharp rise of voltage.
