The NovalithIC™ is the interface between the microcontroller and the motor, equipped with diagnostic and protection functions. The NovalithIC™ family can support mechanically commutated motors with brushes (DC motors: Single/Double Phase and Uni-/Bi-directional) or electrically commutated motors (BLDC motors: Three phase and Uni-/Bi-directional) up to 250W.
It provides a complete low-ohmic-protected half-bridge in a single package. This family has the capability to switch high frequency PWM while providing overcurrent, overvoltage and over temperature protection. The use of p-channel technology on the high side switch of the motor eliminates the need to design a charge pump. The NovalithIC™ offers cost-optimized solutions for protected high-current PWM motor drives with very low board-space consumption up to 30% – scaled to your needs.
