Kontron 3.5″-SBC-AML/ADN are perfect for building compact IoT edge devices
3.5″ Single Board Computer with Intel® Atom® x7000(R)E Series, Intel® Core™ i3 N-Series & Intel® N-Series Processors
3.5″-SBC-AML/ADN – Ideal for IoT, IIoT and AIoT Applications
Kontron introduces it’s latest 3.5″ Single Board Computer for the development of compact IoT edge devices. 3.5″-SBC-AML/ADN is powered by Intel® Atom® x7000RE Series (codenamed Amston Lake), Intel® Atom® x7000E Series, Intel® Core™ i3 N-Series and Intel® N-Series (codenamed Alder Lake N) processors integrated with Intel® UHD Graphics Gen12 as well as support for a next-gen high-speed DDR5 memory. Thus, it can deliver upgraded processing and graphics performance, enhanced media transcoding and faster AI inference, as well as low power consumption and low latency. This makes Kontron’s new SBC an ideal baseboard to be integrated into a compact IoT edge system or an all-in-one solution for a variety of applications, such as smart retail, industrial automation, healthcare, video processing and office automation, and also for further critical real-time computing around remote applications.

Compared to the previous generations, the processors deliver nearly double graphics performance with up to 32 GPU execution units, next-generation DDR5 memory with up to 4800 MT/s data transfer rate, two USB 3.2 Gen2, one USB 2.0 and one USB 3.2 Gen2 Type C interfaces, triple display capability and multiple embedded controller features. Both 3.5”-SBC-ADN and 3.5”-SBC-AML feature up to two display port connectors on the rear panel and one USB-C port with up to 4K UHD resolution at 60 frames per second with Intel® UHD Graphics Gen12. Another on board LVDS connector can be used as an option for direct display connection. With the improved GPU performance, AI and image processing tasks in particular can be accelerated.
Some models of the 3.5”-SBC-ADN and 3.5”-SBC-AML support Intel® Time Coordinated Computing (TCC) technology and Time Sensitive Networking (TSN). The new SBCs are ideal for IoT edge devices that require high security, low power and low latency. Edge devices also benefit from the on-board serial and digital IO interfaces, as well as the high voltage input of 9 to 36V DC.
The 3.5”-SBC-ADN and 3.5”-SBC-AML support all processor variants (standard or project- based) and use advanced technology components. 3.5”-SBC-AML is designed for continuous operation (24/7) under harsh operating conditions and on high system load. The 3.5”-SBC-ADN and 3.5”-SBC-AML are available in two different operating temperature variants: commercial (0 °C ~ 60 °C) and industrial (-40 °C ~ 85 °C), to cover various environmental conditions of different application scenarios.
3.5”-SBC-ADN and 3.5”-SBC-AML ensure an extended long-term availability of up to 10 years from the release date, due to embedded key components and will be provided with international certifications.
The comprehensive 3.5″ Single Board Computer portfolio is rounded out by a series of I/O and function expansion boards, named 3.5″-eIO. The expansion board provides additional rear I/O ports, including additional display (DP & HDMI) connectors and LAN ports. The 3.5″-eIOs support both standard and industrial operating temperature ranges and are compatible with the 3.5”-SBC-ADN and 3.5”-SBC-AML as well as the previous generations 3.5-inch-SBC-EKL and the 3.5″-SBC-TGL.
