Film Capacitors
A film capacitor uses an insulating plastic film as the dielectric. The performance of the capacitors strongly depends on the dielectric material. The most common dielectrics are Polyester and Polypropylene.
PET (Polyester, Polyethylene terephthalate)
As its most important property, polyethylene terephthalate has high capacitance per volume due to its high dielectric constant and high dielectric strength. It has further excellent self-healing properties and good temperature stability. Typical applications: Bypassing, coupling, filtering
PP (Polypropylene)
Polypropylene films have superior electrical characteristics. The film features very low dielectric losses, a high insulation resistance and a very high dielectric strength. Furthermore these films have excellent self-healing properties, good stability and a close tolerance up to 1%. Typical applications: AC & pulse at high frequencies as well as radio interference suppression.
Film capacitors satisfy a large variety of electronic applications, because the dielectrics have excellent electrical characteristics, high stability and long life time. The technological progress breeds higher capacitance values within smaller package dimensions. We offer a wide range of capacitor technologies with leading manufactures.
