Further information
For the latest ASUS Tinker Boards, the gen4-4DPi can be used as Primary Display, which displays the primary output of the ASUS Tinker Board, like what is normally sent to the HDMI or Composite output. With the integrated Resistive (or Capacitative) Touch panel, the gen4-4DPi enables the ASUS Tinker Board to function with without the need for a mouse.
The gen4-4DPi display module connects to the ASUS Tinker Board’s 40 pin header using the gen4-4DPi Adaptor and the 30-way FFC Cable. Communication between the gen4-4DPi and the ASUS Tinker Board is interfaced with a high speed 48 MHz SPI connection, which utilizes an on-board processor for direct command interpretation and SPI communication compression, and features a customized DMA enabled kernel. This combination allows this display to output high frame rate compared to other SPI display solutions, when displaying a typical image/video, and can achieve higher depending if the image can be compressed. The gen4-4DPi is designed to work with the Tinker OS Debian v2.0.11 operating system.
