| RASMID™ 0402 – Size Diodes |
ROHM utilizes breakthrough proprietary manufacturing technologies to produce the RASMID™ series of Zener and Schottky barrier diodes in the industry-leading 0402 size (0.4×0.2mm) ideal for high density applications such as smartphones and other portable devices.
Manufacturing will be conducted at ROHM’s Apollo (Fukuoka) facility. Samples are available now for shipment (20 yen/unit), with mass produced products offered from April 2014.

These new diodes reduce volume by 82% over conventional 0603-size products, contributing to greater miniaturization and higher performance in applications requiring a thin, compact form factor, such as smartphones and digital cameras.
2. Equivalent key characteristics (i.e. VF) of 0603-size products in a compact package
In general, with diodes there is a reciprocity between chip size and electrical characteristics. In order to break this relationship, an original chip device structure, along with high precision machining technology, was utilized to develop an ultra-thin, ultra-compact form factor that maintains the key characteristics of 0603-size products, such as VF.
