Dedicated sound systems, installed outside infotainment head units, can be mounted in a different part of the car and give the freedom to power a subwoofer or to add additional speakers to enhance the sound quality. This can be the case of premium audio packages, when the head unit already embeds equalization and basic power amplification, or the standard approach when the infotainment head unit delegates the management of the sound to an external box.
