Swissbit – X-55 Series SATA SSD 2.5 For Cost-Sensitive Industrial Applications
Swissbit extends its X-500 INDUSTRIAL SATA SSD 2.5’’ platform by the X-55 Series EM-MLC (endurance managed – multi level cell). Compared to standard MLC SSDs, Swissbit’s EM-MLC SSDs have three to ten times greater endurance while maintaining consistent data retention of up to five years, in line with the JEDEC standard.
The X-55 Series is available at distributor Rutronik as of now. At embedded world (February 25-27), Rutronik presents in hall 1, booth 310 + 249 a complete portfolio for the Embedded Systems of the future. The X-55 EM-MLC manages a data rate (sequential read performance) of up to 240MB/sec on SATA II and 14,800 IOPS with 4KB random accesses. Therefore, the X-55 is ideally suited for cost-sensitive industrial applications with tough requirements, e.g. a broader temperature range from -40° up to +85°C, high shock and vibration resistance, transparent diagnostic functions and enhanced erase methods.
As a result of specifically tested and selected MLC flash raw materials, the Swissbit X-55 SSD is an interesting solution positioned between SLC (single-level cell) and standard MLC. It offers high data reliability with the industy-leading power fail protection feature, the S.M.A.R.T. (Self-Monitoring, Analysis and reporting Technology) protocol, lifetime monitoring tools and SDK/API, as well as BCH-ECC (error correction code).
Additional features are NCQ, TRIM, ATA Security Set and Enhanced Secure Erase via software and hardware management. Internal temperature sensors continuously monitor the system, allowing the implementation of additional early warning systems. The SATA connector with latch protection and especially reinforced component assembly makes the X-55 suitable for applications that demand high vibration and shock resistance. X-55 SSDs are long-term available with a fixed BOM and obtainable in various densities.
